Gone South for the WinterThe autumn light is yellow
As it filters through the trees
How golden they are in the late afternoon,
With the chill wind promising winter
Brushing the leaves in whispers.

Not even autumn's greatest beauty
Can match your eyes,
The blue that shames the sky.
And the way that the light filled them
Still echoes in my mind,
A soft reminder of the time before
We were us.

The shadows of past are exactly
What makes us so light.
Now, now on this roller coaster
That's still climbing mechanically
Up the first big hill,
We can't even see any loop-de-loops or turns or drops,
But we know they're there,
We can anticipate the blind exhilar
AspenThe autumn light, yellow
Filters through the trees
How golden they are in the late afternoon.
StarmotherNothing existed before me
I am just as infinite
Just as eternal
As the darkness that made me
Thee light that fills me.

We are all made of stardust
Infinitesimal specks,
The result of the death
Of the largest factory we know.

We wander, blindly,
Through the darkness -
(The same that made me -
Searching for some sort of light -
The same that fills me.

I long for the caress
Of our Starmother's fingers,
Brushing my cheek in whispers
The same voice that she'd use
When she says she loves us,
But I know she means mean.

If only she could live with us
Her fantastic warmth filling us
From the inside out
And in a way, she does.
